Addict. Homosexual. Cat burglar. Actor. Aboriginal. Jack Charles.
That is the tagline found for 'Bastardy' on IMBD. It is a documentary about the present state of Aboriginal actor Jack Charles.
The film is the visual poetry of a life, vibrant and haunting. Directed by Amiel Courtin-Wilson, the music selection, artistry of the cinematography, and the pure fascinating reality of Jack Charles create an experience unlike anything I have watched before. The philosophical layers live and breathe without the film having to engage them directly, they simply exist for the viewer. What we are left with is a stunning insight into how beautiful a human being can be, even when they are broken and prone to bad behavior.
Seek it out and fall in love.
